BOY SCOUT TROOP 500, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS
Meeting Minutes - 03/18/09

Opening: 
The regular monthly meeting of the Troop 500 Committee was called to order at 7:09 p.m. in the Rosary Room at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church.  

Present: 
Ron Aguirre, Angelo Armondo, Art Villarreal, Darlene Whitley, Linda Zaiontz

  1. Assistant Scoutmaster’s Report: 
    1. The Potters Creek campout was a success.  There were 5-6 scouts and 3-4 adults.  It was cold and windy.  Fishing was the activity.  
    2. Three boys crossed over.  Ron attended the February 21st crossover at Converse Park.  The mayor of Converse was also in attendance.
    3. There is a lock-in planned for this weekend starting this Friday evening.  The Knights of Columbus Fish Fry will be Friday evening so the scouts should bring money.  Darlene said she will contact the church for permission for the lock-in.  Ron stated they would continue to work on merit badges.
    4. The scouts will attend the El Rancho Cima Summer Camp this year. The date is pending.
    5. Jonathan Aguirre needs approval for his Eagle project.
  1. Treasurer’s Report:
    1. Angelo gave reimbursement checks to Darlene for Alamo Area Council and Summer Camp and a reimbursement check to Ron for the blow-up check from Kinkos for Scout Sunday.  Copies of the Treasurer’s reports will be given next month.
  1. Committee Chair’s Report:
    1. Darlene stated she ordered the Troop 500 patches. These will be given to the new scouts.
    2. An electronic vote will be sent out to the committee as to how much credit each boy will receive for each plant they sold at Christmas time.
  1. Venture Crew Report: 
    1. Art attended a few of the Life Teen Nights.  He gave a letter to Cindy Hamilton to send out to the Life Teens by email. He will be in front of Christopher Hall this Friday to recruit.
    2. The Culinary Challenge at McGimsey is $20.00 cost. 
    3. Coke Course is May 1st.

  1. Adjournment:
    1. As there was no further business, Art made a motion to adjourn, Ron seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously accepted. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.  The next meeting is scheduled for the third Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Rosary Room at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church
