Founded in 1982, Boy Scout Troop 500 is sponsored by St Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. The troop is part of Diamondback District of the Alamo Area Council.
Troop 500 is a boy-led troop. We normally meet (Troop Meeting) three Tuesdays every month at the old Knights' Hall (Building 3) at St. Mark's at 7 p.m. Normally there is no Troop Meeting on the second Tuesday of the month. Our Troop Committee Meetings are held at St. Marks Community Center Rosary Room at 7-9pm.
We try to campout every month, and usually end up camping about 8 times a year, in addition to summer camp. We also have Popcorn, Poinsettia, and Taco breakfast fundraisers.
Since 2000, twelve Troop 500 Scouts have earned the highest rank in Scouting, Eagle Scout.
Congrats to Patrick Whitley III, John O'Dowd, Andres O'Neal, Simon Ponder, Karl Kridner, Mark Rayfield, Jr, Roberto "Paco" Aguirre, Matt Walior, Robbie Rayfield, Jonathan Aguirre, Andrew Soliz, and David Barrera.
