Become a Scout or Scouter! 

Boy Scouting is available to boys who are 11 through 18 years of age, have completed the fifth grade, or earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light. They camp, hike, and fish in the great outdoors. They get together in troops, and try out new experiences. They learn leadership skills while working as a group.

You just have to register, pay the registration dues and complete the required physical.

To join Scouts, it's a $15.00 registration fee, plus $12.00 if you want to receive Boy's Life magazine. Troop 500 dues are $3.00 per month; we normally collect for either a 6 month period ($18.00) or the entire year ($36.00).

Physicals are normally good for three years until age 40; then they must be done annually.

Troop 500 Uniform Requirements for Scouts and Leaders:

Troop 500 is a denim and shirt troop; it is not required that Scouts use or purchase the Scout trousers or shorts.

Troop 500 requires the khaki Scout shirt, green Scout belt & buckle, Troop 500 hat, Troop 500 t-shirt. The official Scout shorts/pants, neckerchief, socks, hat are NOT required by Troop 500, and are optional, at the Scout's/parent's discretion. The Troop 500 hat and t-shirt can be purchased from Troop 500 at a cost of $10 each.
